We hope this letter finds you, your family and friends in good health through these uncertain times. We have been told by our Chief Dental Officer and the CQC to cease all routine dentistry until further notice. At Upton Dental, we have been doing our best to ensure we are available on the phone for any dental emergencies or queries, but are so looking forward to resuming work at the Practice and welcoming you back. While many things will be different, our commitment to your health and comfort is, as always paramount – and on this note we would like to update you on some changes that we will be implementing for your safety when we are able to re-open. These changes will be to reduce ‘people traffic’ and enable social distancing measures as far as possible, throughout the Practice.
There will be new procedures in place so that we can ensure a safe and efficient service for all our patients, staff and the wider community. Below is an idea of what you can expect both before your appointment and during your time at the Surgery; if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask a staff member at any time or email us.
Please be aware TEXT MESSAGE REMINDERS WILL NOT BE SENT for appointments until further notice.
We will phone you the day before your appointment to confirm, ensure your personal and medical details are up-to-date, and discuss the treatment planned or any symptoms you may have been experiencing. Some of these questions may be repeated at the Surgery.
Treatment plans will be sent via email, not printed at the Practice as before – please ensure we have your correct email address.
For efficiency and to prevent unnecessary personal interaction, we may use telephone or video calls for some review appointments, necessary follow-ups and even initial consultations to aid safe planning of your treatment.
Please ensure you brush your teeth thoroughly (at least 2 minutes in addition to your normal 2x daily!) before arrival at the practice.
On arrival, we will provide hand sanitizer and/or you may prefer to wash your hands. You will notice protective clear panels installed along the reception desk.
Your dentist/hygienist and nursing staff will be wearing additional PPE to what you have seen previously – this can be intimidating but please be assured it is for everyone’s safety.
Your forehead temperature will be checked using a thermometer. All staff will also have their temperature checked daily.
We ask that you come to appointments alone – please only bring a companion if absolutely necessary.
We will ask that you remain in your vehicle in the car park until we are ready to receive you in the Surgery. Reception waiting areas and communal spaces will be clearly marked out in accordance with social distance recommendations. These areas will be carefully cleaned prior to practice opening, at lunchtime and at the end of the day.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. Only staff required for the day will be present, to keep numbers as low as possible.
We will not be able to open all 4 clinical rooms to start with, as we get used to the new way of working. This may mean that you are initially offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment – please be patient, we will do our best to ensure waiting times are minimised and prioritise necessary treatment rather than routine examinations.
Prior to any dental treatment you will be required to rinse with a specific antiseptic mouthwash.
Where possible treatment will be paid for, and further appointments booked over the phone to streamline your visit. Unfortunately, due to the increased cost of PPE and longer appointment times, you will see an increase in the fees we will have to charge to keep our heads above water.
Please remember that we continue to be available for all our patients 7-days a week regarding any dental problems or concerns you may have during this difficult time. You can telephone the practice on 01202 631900 and leave a message or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
To date we have not received any guidance about when we may be able to open again. We will keep you informed via email and our website.
Stay safe and we really do look forward to welcoming you back at the Practice soon!
Hennie and all the Staff at Upton Dental and Implant Centre
